Referendum Question # 2 asks whether school administrators should be responsible for the hiring and supervision of school employees. Currently, the city charter mandates that the administrative assistant outside of the principal's office and the janitor who cleans the classrooms report to the mayor, not the principal. Middletown is one of only 2 districts in the state that have the current arrangement.
