Turns out it was a sort of "Family night" last night at The Buttonwood Tree, with kids of all ages playing harmoniously together. Abe Bobman, on drums in the photo below, a Wesleyan/TBT work-study student, arranged for a night of music and frivolity that filled the bookstore and gallery with music and light-heartedness even while some sang the blues.
It was a real community event as patrons mixed with musicians, joining them onstage and in conversation. The band known as the STUNT COLUNTERS opened the evening followed by the "Basement Blues group" APRIL FOOLS. The group known as the Stunt Colunters, includes Tim Dutcher and Rowan Trowbridge-Wheeler and Quinn Kessel, was started about 3 years ago and last night played songs from their collection that were so animated and passionately performed that the audience was thoroughly humored and entertained. above: Fred Carroll, local artist and drummer, gets deep into the vibe
Rowan Tim and Quinn: a perfectly timed final beat
Trowbridge-Wheeler: the passionate actor at age 8
Tonight, April 2nd, the house will be filled again with family of sorts - musicians, poets and actors, some, who frequent the stage on Monday nights at the "Anything Goes" Open Mic, call is like they see it - from every angle, including those you probably can't imagine seeing it from. Lights, camera action! J-Cherry and The Strawberries present an evening of vaudeville as the Voice of the City, "Voix de Ville". This eclectic show starts at 8pm with Slambovian coffee and dessert bread by O'Rourke's Diner offered to tastefully add to your night at The Buttonwood Tree.
