In his parting words to his life in Middletown municipal government, former mayoral aide, Geen Thazhampallath, who is leaving to become Chief Administrative Officer for the city of Stratford, was effusive and emotional.
"I want to impress upon you how good we have it in Middletown," Thazhampallath said, reflecting on his viewpoint from another city's beauracracy. "I truly do believe that government can move mountains."
Thazhampallath thanked Mayor Sebastian Giuliano, who gave Thazhampallath a job when he was unemployed, and needed a break. He also praised all the city leaders, and those involved in municipal government who he said arrived at good decisions "beyond the bickering on the surface."
Thazhampallath, his wife and children will remain living in Middletown, and he hinted that he might return at some point to work on a board or commission.
"I know in my heart, that I'll always call Middletown home," he said before accepting a plaque in his honor, and shaking the hands of council members and the mayor.
