Vote and Vote Wisely

I've never had more people ask me, "Who should I vote for?"

As a contributor to this blog friends think I have an insight more nuance then their own, but many of my sources are the same as theirs - interactions with local politicians, attendance at board and council meetings, and reading about stuff right here in the Middletown Eye.

If you haven't vote already, I would suggest one more glance at the Candidate Profiles we provided here. We invited every candidate to submit a profile. They offer a glimpse into who the candidates are. You can find them all in the blog archives - right hand column - most of them in October.

Also, if you have the time, listen to one of the candidate forums available here in video and audio format. You can find them listed at the top right of the page under Debate Archives.

Finally, when you get to the voting booth remember to use your vote wisely. Vote only for the candidates you want to support. Because you have the opportunity to vote for eight candidates for Common Council, for example, doesn't mean you have to, or should. Because of the cumulative effect of the voting, you may be helping a candidate you don't support get into office, over your chosen candidate. So, if you only feel strongly in favor of six Common Council candidates, only vote for those six. The same goes for other boards and commissions. A vote for a candidate you don't know, or don't support, may be a vote against your candidate.
