Middlesex United Way Women's Initiative Annual Meeting Thursday

MIDDLETOWN--Women who are interested in philanthropy and service are invited to attend the Middlesex United Way Women's Initiative Annual Meeting 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 at Heritage Commons, 38 Boston Road, Middletown. The event is free, and dinner will be served.

The Women's Initiative celebrates the power of women to bring about positive change in our community through philanthropy and service. Guests will enjoy the company of other women making a difference in Middlesex County. The program for the evening will include remarks about the Women's Initiative and a keynote speech from Mary Barneby, CEO of Girl Scouts of Connecticut.

Guests are asked to bring new and unopened toiletry items such as mouthwash, deodorant, and soap to benefit the Women and Families Center. WFC delivers care packages to area hospitals for victims of assault. Those who are unable to attend but wish to contribute can drop off items in advance or send a monetary donation to: Middlesex United Way Women’s Initiative, 100 Riverview Center, Suite 230, Middletown, CT 06457.

Grants Available from Women's Initiative

Grants are available to Middlesex County nonprofits that align with one or more of Middlesex United Way Women's Initiative's focus areas: Early Childhood Development - ensuring parents and children have the resources they need for children's healthy development; Empowering Young Women - ensuring young women have the resources and support they need to make healthy choices; and Financial Stability - ensuring women of all ages have the education and resources to be independent and self-sufficient. Grants are reviewed on an ongoing basis by knowledgeable Women’s Initiative members.
