Middletown Swears In New Deputy Chief

Michael S. Timbro was sworn in as Middletown's new Deputy Chief last night in the Common Council Chambers.  The chambers were generously filled with well-wishers including officers from the Middletown Police Department and Connecticut State Police, Middletown Fire Department, community leaders, friends and family members.  Timbro is an 18-year veteran of the department.

In his remarks, Timbro credited his success in the police department to his colleagues, his mentors and his family. He stated his goals for the department are to steer the culture of the organization to one that is more supportive of the officers and to advance initiatives within the agency.

"I can already see us moving in the right direction," he stated as he shared a story about how the department came together to send off a retiring police officer on Thursday afternoon. As the retiring officer collected his belongings from his locker, his fellow officers and other department personnel spontaneously gathered at the front lobby to wish him well. He shared it was an emotional moment for everyone for a good officer.

More information about Timbro's appointment can be find at this Middletown Eye story.
