Firefighters Pretty in Pink

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Middletown Fire Department, in conjunction with Middletown Firefighters Local 1073, will be supporting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Breast Cancer Foundation.  Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States and affects over 190,000 women annually.  While this is a devastating disease, there are over 2.5 million survivors in the U.S. today.

In support of the Cure, the Middletown Fire Department will be altering its work uniform for the month of October.  All department members will be wearing pink department t-shirts with a special logo.  The logo is the bright pink breast cancer ribbon with a fire nozzle at the end of the ribbon.

Firefighter Brian France is the spearhead of the Middletown Fire Department’s support for this very noble cause.  All department members will be required to make a donation for the privilege of wearing this very special uniform.  All proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Koman for the Cure, Breast Cancer Foundation.  The Department would also like to thank the Branding Company, one of the Department’s clothing vendors, for their support in this cause.  Without their help, support and donation, this fundraiser would not be as profitable. Shirts will be available to the general public for the cost of $20.  Supplies are limited; please contact the department at 860-343-8004 Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM through 4:30 P.M. for information.

For any additional information, please contact Deputy Chief Robert Kronenberger.  Office: 860-343-5045; Cell: 860-883-7564; email: robert.kronenberger@cityofmiddletown.com.
