Passion, Love, Family, International Guests, Musical Talents - what do all of these have in common? Answer: The Buttonwood Tree!
Saturday night the house was packed for a wonderful evening of jazz with fans and family of Mr. Isaac Allen - a young up and coming 7-piece band that played original jazzy numbers with an infectious beat and both very deep and very high vocals. Allen's deep resonating voice and melodious piano both thrilled and soothed the audience at once!
The Mr. Isaac Allen band debuted their first CD, “Don’t Smoke”, at the event that provided a full house for The Buttonwood Tree. For their first time out of the gate, this band was considerably more together than one might expect, which obviously came from the heavy rehearsing they did.
A song of love, dedicated to his parents - who were celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary - was both heartwarming and riveting. Mr.Isaac Allen led us to invisible melodic heights, brought us down ever so gently, and just before we hit the ground, they'd lift us up with a different rhythm, at a different pace, keeping us enthralled and engaged as he repeated this over and over until finally soothing us into a gentle peaceful state. Folks hailed from over 4 countries, and hitting the restaurants both before and after the show, made numerous favorable comments about how Middletown had changed in the last 20 years. A few of the patrons had been to TBT in the original location on Rapallo Avenue, and hadn't been here since, but were quite impressed with our bustling Main Street. It certainly spoke well of our communal efforts in improving our downtown - and it's only getting better!
