They wandered from Brewbakers to O'Rourkes, and with 85 stops on Main Street, and slight detours (21 stops in City Hall alone), trick or treaters roamed downtown dragging bags heavy with chocolate and gummy delights.
The annual Halloween Parade, was sponsored by the Middletown Parks and Rec department and the Downtown Business District who provided a kickoff treat and a map to every group who stopped in Park and Rec offices on Riverview Plaza.

This was a great event! My kids had a wonderful time searching for "orange" signs. Thanks to all the merchants who particiapted!
Boooooo. Deb Kleckowski
hey hope arent those your grand kidds with the mayor ???
This was a great event again this year! I encourage all the Main St businesses to consider participation in this annual event. Not only does it foster community, but it is free advertisement for downtown businesses. I walked into at least 10 businesses I had never entered before... and I'm sure I am not the only one!

Becky you haven't been to them before because you get charged a great deal for parking and they all have weird hours, usually closed sunday, and close at 4pm during the week so anyone that works doesn't shop at them.
Anon12:50 I would hardly call 50cents a high price to pay for parking which I think is about what it costs for an hour at a metered space, of which there are always many many available not only on Main Street but on Broad Street one block away. Maybe I am wrong and its one whole dollar. There are plenty of places to park for free too if you just open your eyes and are willing to walk half as much as you would if you went to a mall. As for weird hours, the 2 mentioned in the article - O'Rourke's and BrewBaker's are breakfast/lunch spots that open at 6am and 7am respectively 7 days a week. I dont think that is weird. I work full-time and I manage go to breakfast once in a while at 7am because I enjoy it. Of course they close early sine they don't serve dinner. Some businesses have made efforts to be open later (ION's market comes to mind). Many working people who feel that it is important or preferable to support our local Main Street somehow find the time to patronize Main Street businesses, and find it to be a much more pleasant experience than the alternative. Don't put your bitter words into someone else's mouth.
