Dem Registrar Says Zimmitti Replacement to be Announced in January

In a phone interview today, Democratic Registrar of Voters confirmed that Assistant Registrar Maria Zimmitti was told she would not be reappointed in her position.

"It's a political appointment," Faraci said. "Maria always knew that this was a possibility."

Faraci said she didn't expect to appoint a new assistant until January. She said she has no specific candidates in mind.

I understand this is about patronage but Ms Faraci and Mr Russo could have been a tad more diplomatic. How about giving a little more notice? It is more than insulting to be told that no other particular candidate is in the wings! In one breath they tout that they can do this because its a political appointment and in the next breath they try to make you believe that they have no idea who the replacement will be! Believe that and I have a bridge for you to buy.

It may be a political appointment but her firing was bush league though and though. I guess this is the kind of treatment you get for not having enough signs on your lawn...no this is not a joke.

Maria was part of a small inside group of Democrats who behind the scenes were helping Giuliano beat the Democratic nominee. I won't elaborate but enough of us know this to be a reality.

yes it is a polite political appointment. but this is the person you would see as the democratic registar, not the assistant. if you want to see the registar you have to be at town hall usualy from the hours between 4:30pm to 8:29am. get my drift its like waiting for the cable guy. ed you changed the story and also erased a bunch of comments that were very positive for the assistant registar. why? did you not like them?

This story appears as it was originally posted. No changes.

The only comments deleted are those which were anonymous attacks without substantiation and merit. They contained accusations which were unproven, and amounted to name calling. Anonymous attacks of this kind will not be tolerated or published.

Interestingly, you call me by name and accuse me of doing something you don't approve of, and you don't sign your own name.

Shame.
