Oddfellows Playhouse Open House

Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, September 10th, 2022 from 12:00 to 3:00pm. Families, kids, volunteers and artists will have the opportunity to tour the Playhouse, meet the staff and get a hands-on sense of the kind of things that we do. Learn about opportunities this year for kids, teenagers and adults alike. Find out how you can get involved at Oddfellows this fall! The Playhouse is located at 128 Washington Street in Middletown. 

Oddfellows Playhouse is Connecticut’s oldest and largest performing arts program. Since 1975, Oddfellows has offered young people throughout central Connecticut access to high-quality performing arts education and performances. Financial aid is available to families that are not available to afford tuition.

Registration is now open for our 48th season, which begins September 17th. Our fall programming offers age-appropriate training in theater, dance, circus, music and visual art for ages 3 - 20. Programs for younger students focus on skill building and fun. Teenagers can find challenge, inspiration and community in Circophony Teen Circus or the Teen Repertory Company. Adults of all ages are encouraged to join the fun at the Playhouse as volunteers - opportunities include everything from helping with box office or ushering for performances, assisting in classes, painting sets, or volunteering in the Oddfellows office.

Stop by the Fall Open House at Middlesex Community College on October 17

Middlesex Community College doors are open on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. for an exciting evening of activities, interactive exhibits, informative workshops, hands-on displays, giveaways, and refreshments. Prospective students and their families are invited to learn about MxCC’s degree and certificate programs from criminal justice to veterinary technology to human services, and much more. Talk to professors, advisors, and students and even find out about financial aid options. Everyone is welcome to visit our beautiful campus, located at 100 Training Hill Road, Middletown. MxCC Hosts Engineering Science & Computer Engineering Technology Open House

The field of engineering is rapidly expanding and the need for skilled workers in this area is rising steadily. To meet that need, Middlesex Community College has recently introduced a new associate’s degree, Technology Studies: Computer Engineering Technology, and a revised associate’s degree, Engineering Science. Prospective students can learn about these programs and careers in engineering at the College’s upcoming open house.

At the open house hosted by Dr. Lin Lin, coordinator of the two programs, representatives from engineering schools at the University of Connecticut, the University of Hartford, Central Connecticut State University, and the University of Bridgeport will be speaking about transferring to their universities and the engineering programs at their institutions. From the College, Dr. Steven Minkler, dean of academic affairs, and Dr. Mary Rayappan, academic division director, will also be speaking. Leslie Cummings, human resources director at ESPN, will be speaking to students about what she looks for when hiring engineering graduates.

The open house and information session will be held on October 16 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in the Student Lounge at Middlesex Community College, located at 100 Training Hill Road, Middletown. Middletown Salvation Army Celebrates 120 Years

The Middletown Salvation Army is celebrating 120 years of service to the Greater Middletown Area this year. The Salvation Army open its door in 1890 on Grant Street and continues to be a presence in Middletown until this day. Now located at 515 Main Street where they have been for the last 30 years.

The Salvation Army will be having a day of celebration on May 12 (Wednesday), during National Salvation Army Week. There will be an open house from 11 AM - 5 PM, a pasta dinner fund-raiser from ($10.00 per person) 5 PM-6:30 PM and the evening will close with a celebration meeting at 7 PM. The meeting will feature a Salvation Army Brass Band and local and state dignitaries to present well wishes to the Salvation Army. There will also be silent auction all day long with gift certificates from Middletown and Cromwell businesses.

As The Salvation Army looks to the future they will be totally refacing the front of their 515 Main Street location. The renovations will include a new facade, new windows, lighting, doors, and a new lobby. This work will be done throughout the summer of 2010. Also The Salvation Army has submitted proposals to begin a Teen Center for High school students. The proposed program would run three days a week from after school until the evening hours. They will find out in August if they will receive the funds they have applied for, and will move forward then.

Middletown Republican Campaign Open House Today

Mayor Giuliano would like to welcome all of Middletown downtown on Saturday the 19th to enjoy a hot piece of pizza and a cold glass of soda while enjoying the grand opening of his headquarters, which is located at 320 Main Street, the old Bills sports shop.

“Our headquarters is ideal,” said Mayor Giuliano. “It’s a quick walk for city hall, the hospital, or even the north end. Everyone should stop down tonight around 5pm and have a great time.”

All GOP candidates will be there this evening, and will be able to take questions from the public on current issues.

There is no cost for admission and there will also be voter registration cards available for those who need to register.
