Firetruck accident closes Washington Street

Washington Street (Route 66), was closed temporarily this morning when a Middletown Fire truck and a passenger vehicle collided.  The collision occured at the intersection of High and Washington Streets.  The firetruck was traveling on the way to an emergency when the accident occured.  The collision included two other vehicles, a taxi and a box truck,  that were struck by the passenger vehicle after the collusion with the firetruck.  The passenger from the vehicle was transported away by ambulance.

Apparently the car ran the red light, which is no surprise to anyone who drives on Washington Street regularly. Apparently paying attention to your surroundings is not a requirement these days.
