VOTE ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6

The Jonah Center strongly urges all citizens to vote this Tuesday. Much is at stake for our local communities, the environment, and our nation as a whole.

In particular, we encourage support of two specific ballot questions that have direct environmental implications.

Question #2 – Vote YES to amend the State Constitution to require a hearing and transparency before any sale or transfer of state property. This would prevent back room, out-of-sight deals (such as the notorious “Haddam Land Swap” proposed in 2011) to convey state lands.

Question #4— Vote YES to support the “Road, Sidewalk, and Streetlight Improvement Project” that includes bike- and pedestrian friendly improvements, as well as conversion of all Middletown streetlights to LED technology for better lighting, less night sky light pollution, and considerable cost-savings.

Below you will find pages on City website that will help you VOTE.

Thank you John for taking time to post suggestions.

If you could, I'm a dollars and cents kind of guy and how does an $18 million bond impact my taxes. I'm all for the expenditures and they sound like worthy projects but just like any purchase you or I would make what is the cost in the end i.e. $10/year, $50 year,$100/yr. To make a informed decision it would be helpful to know the cost i.e. per mill per year this would be.

Any additional info you could supply would be helpful in deciding how to vote on the 2 local amendments.

Thanks
