City Seeking Residents For Service On Land Use Advisory Committees

The Department of Planning, Conservation and Development is seeking members of the public who are interested in being considered for vacancies on the Citizens' Advisory Committee, Design Review and Preservation Board and Conservation Committee.

The Citizens' Advisory Committee has four vacancies and is charged with overseeing Middletown's $400,000 annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and recommending grant allocations to the Common Council. The CDBG program is an annual entitlement given to the City of Middletown from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to help improve the quality of life and economic opportunities for low and moderate income residents and areas of Middletown. The Citizens' Advisory Committee meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7pm.

The Design Review and Preservation Board has two vacancies and advises the Middletown Planning and Zoning Commission on proposed new commercial developments and modifications to historic properties and areas. The Design Review and Preservation Board also reviews signage applications. The Design Review and Preservation Board meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6pm.

The Conservation Commission has three vacancies and advises the Common Council on open space acquisition and management of open space. The Conservation Commission meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7pm.

The Middletown Department of Planning, Conservation and Development depend on 62 citizens to oversee, guide and advise the Department and Common Council on activities and policies being undertaken.
