The Middlesex County Community Foundation’s Shamrock Fund has granted $2400 to North End Arts Rising (NEAR) / The Buttonwood Tree to provide equipment for its film projects. Directed by The Shamrock Fund / O'Rourke's Diner, the funds come through the Community Foundation and will provide for a new projector, a moveable cart, a Blu-Ray player and the hardware and costs for hanging draperies to darken the room. The drapes will also enhance the already-superb acoustics in the performance space.
The equipment will be of great help to the film class of the Green School Coop, a home-school group which meets at Buttonwood and to the Buddhist Faith Fellowship group, which offers films on (3rd) Wednesdays. In addition, NEAR Executive Director Anne-Marie Cannata, has long wanted to create a film series showing a variety of independent films at The Buttonwood Tree.
