It should be postponed permanently.

I agree this event should be eliminated. It adds nothing good to the city environment and causes very loud disruption for those who live at all near the downtown area. Roaring motorcycles until about 10:30 last night on a weeknight.

Glad to see someone speaking up about this ridiculous travesty. I suspect that any increase in business for merchants is eclipsed by people scared away from Main Street. What does this spectacle do to our city's reputation? Do we want to be known as a place that encourages a bunch of entitled, pseudo outlaws. As individuals, these "sportsmen" already have a bad reputation for noise, racing, and weaving in out of traffic. As a group/mob, they seem to enjoy being intimidating. I'm sorry if this is reductionist and even unfair, but a lot of them seem to be insecure men happy to show off something powerful between their legs. Bob Dylan said that everybody loves motorcycles. I can understand this, but all loves should not be consummated in public.

I do not see any other Connecticut city clamoring to host such an event. The SWAT team's presence and the tone of the event is not a family friendly one. Granted, everyone's expression is protected, but does the Main St. here really need to host this. It is not a welcoming event in any way and not in the tone of the classic car show or holiday events on Main St. Not the tone I want for mt community I believe strongly in investing in.
