Spring classes start March 23 at Oddfellows Playhouse in Middletown!




An 8 week Spring session of classes in theater, circus and dance starts March 23 at Oddfellows Playhouse in Middletown. Classes are available for ages 15 months to age 20 and registration is now open at www.oddfellows.org.


Circophony Teen Circus, open to ages 12 - 20, offers “Spring Circus Training” on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30 pm, March 26 - May 21. This is a chance for teens to work on acrobatics, flexibility, juggling, balancing, unicycling and other circus skills in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Prior circus experience is not required.


After-School classes for ages 6 - 14 begin March 25 and will run for eight weeks this spring, culminating in a “Share Week” May 20 - 23. (No classes the week of April 8 due to school vacation).


Stage One classes for ages 6 - 8 include Complete Actor I, Circus I, Movement for Actors, Theater is Make Believe and Musical Mentoring (up to age 12). All Stage One classes run 4:50 to 5:50pm


Stage Two classes for ages 9 - 11 include Complete Actor II, Circus II, Broadway Bound, Myths and Legends, Hip Hop Dance (open to ages 9 - 14), and Musical Mentoring (up to age 12). All Stage Two classes run 4:50 to 5:50pm

Stage Three classes for ages 12 - 14  include Advanced Scene Study, Intro to Shakespeare (both run 4:30 to 6:00pm) and Hip Hop Dance (for ages 9 - 14, 4:50 to 5:50pm)

Students may complement their class experience with Oddbridge, an extended day program. Oddbridge provides snacks and supervised arts activities, games and social time before classes begin. Oddbridge extends throughout the school year, providing special programs and field trips on early dismissal days or days when regular Oddfellows’ classes are not in session. Oddbridge also provides transport from school to the Playhouse for all Middletown Public Schools students.


Saturday Classes with Meg Berritta begin on March 23 and serve ages 15 months through twelve. Classes include Acrobabies (ages 15 months - 3 years with caregiver; 9:15 - 9:55 am); Circrobatics (ages 3 - 5, 10 - 10:45 am); Faerie Tale Theater (ages 3 - 6, 10:55 - 11:40 am); Circrobalance (ages 5 - 7, 11:45 am - 12:30 pm); Juggle, Spin, & Flow (7 - 12, 12:30 - 1:30 pm). Weekly classes continue through a Share Day on May 25 (10 weeks total).


Tuition for most classes is $160 for the session, and each class culminates in a “Share” for parents and friends at the final class. Financial Aid is available for all programs. It is Oddfellows policy not to turn anyone away for lack of funds. Oddfellows Playhouse is located at 128 Washington Street in Middletown.

ZOOM Genealogy Club - Saturday, March 23, 2024

Pam comes to us from Oregon, but thanks to the wonders of Zoom, she will join us to share her presentation. She lectures on a number of topics.  For this time around we have chosen "Tracking Down Your Eastern European Ancestors." Here is her description:

In spite of the many wars, boundary changes, and political and natural catastrophes, an astonishing number of records exist for our Eastern European ancestors, both here and abroad. We'll explore strategies for finding their places of origin, uncovering their original names, finding and requesting records, extracting and understanding their information, and dealing with foreign languages.
