Russell Library Celebrates 140 years of Service to Middletown

NoRA’s Cupcakes will be the icing on the celebration

Russell Library will celebrate its 140th anniversary on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

The NoRA Cupcake Company has generously donated 140 mini cupcakes, half chocolate and half vanilla, with icing and sprinkles to help make Russell Library’s celebration a tasty event.

An exhibit of Russell Library’s early history, "Brownstone and Books", will be on display in the lobby. Guided tours about the history of the building are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. and again at 2:00 p.m.

“140 years of service to our community is a significant milestone,” said Matthew K. Poland, the library’s new director. “Many generations of our citizens have passed through the doors of Russell Library seeking information to create full lives.  On April 5 we celebrate the proud past and a promising future of our great institution and we get a NoRA cupcake too.”

The celebration is free to all and begins at 10 AM.
