The Connecticut School of Circus Arts will hold it's Spring Circus Showcase this Thursday and Friday, May 24 and 25 at 7:30 pm at Oddfellows Playhouse, 128 Washington Street. Come see this talented group of teenagers share their skills with the world after an 18 week program of rigorous circus training.
The CSCA is a collaboration between Oddfellows, ARTFARM and Matica Arts. The program is directed by ARTFARM Executive Director Dic Wheeler and the lead Teaching Artists are Allison McDermott of ARTFARM and Joel Melendez and Heidi Kirchofer of Matica Arts. Students are trained in juggling, tightwire, acrobatics, minitramp, teeterboard, physical comedy, devil stick, diabolo, stilting and other circus skills.
Act One will be a six act showcase of the CSCA members recent work, and the second half of the evening will be a revival of the CSCA's Traveling Circus Company's original circus show, Adscensio. (Adscensio will also be performed at the Katherine Hepburn Arts Center in Old Saybrook this Sunday, May 27 at 4 pm)
Tickets for this double bill of circus madness and joy are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at the door. Great for the family, great for grown ups, great for everyone.
