Senator on Your Sidewalk Thursday 4 to 6 pm

State Senator Len Suzio will hold another "Senator on Your Sidewalk" event this Thursday (Oct. 27) outside the Stop & Shop on 416 Main Street, Middletown.

From 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Stop & Shop, Suzio will talk with taxpayers and listen to their thoughts and comments about state taxes and spending, transportation, public safety and a whole host of issues.

Suzio will have on hand a new petition he has created to axe the tax on social security benefits. Connecticut is one of just 14 states to tax Social Security income.

"Why, with our already high cost of living, are we taxing Social Security income?" Suzio said. "Shouldn’t we be doing all we can to help seniors and those on fixed incomes, especially during these difficult times? I am asking the same questions up at the State Capitol. Taxing your social security benefits is wrong. If you feel the same way, you can help me by signing my petition. I will present your signatures to Gov. Malloy and to Democrat leaders to show them that the public is demanding that this tax be taken off our state's books."

Suzio will also bring his petition to cap the state’s gas tax for residents to sign. The gas tax cap petition has already been signed by hundreds of area taxpayers.

"I look forward to and enjoy these 'Sidewalk' events because I get to hear directly from taxpayers on what they want to see accomplished in Hartford," Suzio said. "I then take those ideas to the State Capitol."

Suzio (www.senatorsuzio.com) voted against the record tax hikes which took effect this summer.

Suzio has held similar “Sidewalk” event in Meriden, Cheshire and Middlefield..
