  1. Well Molly, didn't take long for you to prove that you are as petty and small as the rest of your party, despite your claims to be something different.

  2. That is a riot. Dan Drew on a plane to get us jobs. Who will pay for this plance if he is elected? Right, the Dems can do nothing wrong and Dan has promised the world. Create jobs and bring Aerospace Technology to CT. Right! Ever hear of NAFTA my friend. Get on that plane.

At least the Mayor is grounded in reality and will talk to anybody in the community- I mean anybody. Dan bolts after all the events, maybe it's to get fuel for his plane. Who knows

Nice speaking to a lot of people at Westfield the other night including Joe Bibisi and Julian Schmidt who had some interesting alternate ideas to to offer about govenrment.

  4. classic representation of certain elder councilmen (Serra & Santangelo) whispering to Drew. They both told my elderly mother that if Drew was elected not to worry they would "help him out" - After what he said to the Dypa's outside that council meeting I have no reason to vote for this man- well done illustration!

  5. LMFAO! This is great!

  6. Right on. So many politicians result to over simplifying when it comes to bringing jobs back.

  7. I love the Dan Drew character, complete with beanie and "Your Mother" sweater!

  8. Please explain how you will keep taxes down when a huge chunk of your campaign funding and volunteer time comes from organized labor? CT Working Families, better known as SEIU, has been more than kind to you, same as Gov. Malloy. Taxes NEVER go down under circumstances as these. WHERE will your CUTS be? Close to election and I haven't heard anything.

Our economy won't be getting any better any time soon and you would expect that any candidate running for office would have a plan to hit the ground with their feet running. Yet I see no plan, worse yet I see the SAME OLD FACES behind you as your running mates. How does one vote for you with an expectation of change and new ideas when the party hasn't changed with you?

The party behind you has chosen to obstruct and grandstand these past years. Nothing new there. Why wait till now for change when you could have shared your ideas before now?

The BOE is an embarrassment. Bullying is condoned, NOT in speech but in actions. Shifting of funds and vague responses leave me wanting for some leadership there and the present people want to leave the BOE status quo?

The police chief situation was handled poorly and the only thing that they can be thankful for was the chief's exercising of poor judgement going in to bars with badge and gun on display. Certainly not a wise chose given the situation here.

Bottom line is I see an extremely inexperienced Mayoral candidate who will have to rely on others, more experienced, for guidance. Unfortunately the more experienced people we are talking about are the same old, jaded politicians. These representatives unfortunately believe they know what is better for Middletown taxpayers than we do. I, for one would like Middletown to go in a more positive direction and I don't see it going so with Mr. Drew and the old gang at the helm.
Don't forget Hope tried to get her unqualified son in law hired at the BOE & wanted free parking for herself & others with handicap passes

  11. Molly lost my vote on this one. I might reconsider if she comes up with a comparable dig at the Mayor, who is really the child in the sandbox who throws temper tantrums.

  12. At the Wesleyan Debate Dan Drew claimed literally he would get on a plane if he had to to get engineering jobs to Middletown- this is not different than any other political cartoon-

  13. Bravo Molly, I will vote for you- you have the right to your 1st Amendment rights. Will Mr. Drew support your cartoon? I will even though I am a Democrat hoping to take on Joe Serra in August.

  14. Girl thats gutsy! Got my vote! i watched the video can't believe he really said that!

  15. I thought this was mean-spirited even though I'm not a Dan Drew supporter.

I hope the negative comments here help Molly realize that taking cheap shots at those who put themselves out there is not the right and brave thing to do. This cartoon reflects more about the author than the target and I hope it is a low point in Molly's career, and that she will learn from it and move on.

I have appreciated the Eye's coverage of the debates and the candidates. Let's all do our part to get this election out of the gutter.

  16. This comment is so appropriate. The council is so out of control and are trying to put their throne....
Wag the Dog type tactics. Dan, I'm sorry but O'Reilly said it right you will have the job as a paper boy. You come to this town and pretend to know whats going on.
You sit on a council that you weren't even elected to.

  17. Dear ANON 438

Give me a break. It's a simple cartoon that shines a light on Mr. Drew's promises and comments throughout her campaign. I give her a ton of credit for putting her name on the piece, because we all know she could have submitted with an Anonymous name, like, mmm, YOU!

Why do people always have to say, "I'm not a Dan Drew supporter, but that was xxxxx or yyyyy"? Come on? Reveal yourself! It's probably Matt Lesser, or Bob or Lisa writing in to do the old buckle my shoe.

It's her right to campaign anyway she wants and if she wants to draw a cartoon to show her views God Bless Her!

  18. The state democrats put the mayors face on a puppet how can you condem this and not that? Scary Drew actually said the words here and I bet you will still vote for him! Hypocrit!

  19. Molly is a candidate and has put herself out there they have taken cheap shots at her in letters to the editor. Turn around is fair play!

  20. You don't like the cartoon but even though she didn't put his name on it you all knew who he supposed to be!!!!

  21. Molly, can you do one with the Mayor, Acting Chief of Police, Debra Milardo and the BOE Superintendant ????????

I think it would be great if you showed them riding a carpet and swinging handcuffs towards the BOE Boss yelling "JAIL! JAIL! JAIL!" right before the three of them crash into a mountain ! The mountain could even be an election booth, now that would be funny !!!!!

  22. Molly is top notch! I love how the young people are tearing up the town and challenging the issues. Drew, though young is getting nuttier day by day.

Dan, just admit what you said to the Dypas and move on. "I didn't say it," you exclaimed at Westfield the ohter night.
"Yes, you did," Ed shouted twice aloud until his wife said something and then he told her to let you finish so he could rebuttal. I was there, sitting next to the Koran family.

  23. Whether the politics are federal, state, or local, the Republicants are always best at one thing - mud slinging!

Both Democrats and Republicans sling mud- where have you been?

  25. Or how about a cartoon of the mayor throwing the chief of police under a bus, winking at the police union, after the union votes no confidence?

  26. I won't raise taxes. I'll create jobs. I'm in your corner. I support the working man. It's for the children. Fact it's the Democrats that control the common council and have been the controlling party for at least the last 12 years and longer for the B.O.E. THere is no one to blame for higher taxes and fiscal mismanagement than the Dems. they were and are in charge with the majority vote. The Dems raided the rainy day fund to keep taxes from rising, but that fund is now empty so who's going to pay this time Danno. Wasn't it the Dems that shot down a 1 million give back from the city unions in order to balance the budget and negotiated by the present mayor. Good luck Danny you won't get my vote, and please go spread your political manure somewhere other than Middletown. Tommy and his 7 henchmen do a fine job of it on their own

  27. I am hearing from Mr. Drew that we need to market Middletown and draw companies for the areas of industry that are doing well such as the aerospace industry, fuel cells and biochemical. However, as much as I would like to Fortune 500 companies and such come to town, I'm not sure that Mr. Drew approaching these companies himself such as he indicated is really going to do much good.

Personnally, I need to be able to afford to live in Middletown for the next few years and need to have the services that the provides provided. I need to have my street plowed (maybe even sooner than anyone thought); I need to have the landfill open and operating; I need parks to go to and a pool to swim in when it's really hot out; I need to have potable water and expect stuff to happen when I flush. I need to know that those who create and pass the budget know that but also know that I haven't got very deep pockets. There is a limit and personnally, I'm more concerned about the next couple of years and not pie-in-the-sky ideas.
