How They Voted: Mandatory Employer Paid Sick Leave

Over last weekend, the State Legislature and Senate each passed a bill which will force some private companies to provide paid sick leave to their employees. The bill applies only to service workers at companies with more than 50 employees, manufacturers are exempt.

The Bill was was co-sponsored by Rep. Gail Hamm (D, 34th District).

The bill passed the house 76 to 65, as 16 Democrats voted with Republicans against the bill. In the senate, the vote was 18 to 17 in favor.

Middletown's delegation voted as follows:
•Christie Carpino (R, House 32nd): NO
•Joe Serra (D, House 33rd): YES
•Gail Hamm (D, House 34th): ABSENT
•Matt Lesser (D, House 100th): YES
•Paul Doyle (D, Senate 10th): NO
•Len Suzio (R, Senate 13th): NO
