Mayor Sebastian Giuliano and the Common Council honored Middletown Public employees in a ceremony during the Common Council meeting Monday. Giulano declared May 10, Public Employees day and issued a proclamation which he presented to all municipal departments who, in some way, responded during the Kleen Energy explosion in February.
In another presentation, Gary St. Amand of the State Department of Health, Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program, presented Middletown with a HeartSafe designation. HeartSafe designation means that Middletown has adopted procedures throughout the city which begins with training of citizens in CPR, distribution of automated external defibrillators and extending through emergency personnel to create a "chain of survival."
