From Ruth Ann Johnson
As we get closer to election day, we have the opportunity to meet the candidates. I am grateful to the organizations that have planned these events as it gives our residents the chance to ask questions. While I have not been able to attend due to my employment schedule, I would like to let our residents know that I am still running for the office for mayor. I may not have the backing of a big political party as the other candidates, but I am just as eager to make changes that will improve our town's finances, environment, and other areas of interest to our residents. It's a disgrace that this person gets any media coverage.
ReplyDeleteThe bigger disgrace is comment like yours. Any citizen of this country is free to run for whatever office they are Constitutionally qualified for. One does not have to be a Democrat or Republican.
ReplyDeleteLast I checked the U.S. was still a democracy. That covers government and media too.
ReplyDeleteHey Karen: I bet FOX News would have a hard time agreeing with you!
ReplyDeleteHi NOBO. Thanks to constitutional freedom of the press, Fox News is free to report anything that they want, just as the Middletown Eye is. The age-old debate about bias in the news is not at issue here. I am sure that FOX news would agree that the US is a democracy thanks to which they are able to report the news as they see fit.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Karen- but apparently Washington is having a hard time of it.
ReplyDeleteMy only advice to Rae is to change her campaign logo. It sort of resembles you-know-whos.
Democracy as I see it would be socialized medicine as our Congress and Senators enjoy, "What do you think President Obama?" What is good enough for our leaders should be good enough who fight and vote for those rights.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Eye Spy's comment: If we are forced into a Gov't. Health Plan, which is the ultimate goal of this Administration, the Congress should have the same plan. But their current plan is far from socialized. They can choose from hundreds of private plans available to them. They can go to the BEST hospitals (public, private, or military) in the country. If Chris Dodd gets a toothache, he doesn't have to go far for help.He just gets in the elevator and it takes him to a medical facility that rivals any hospital. Free. I'm sure WE will be "directed" to go to a nice street-corner clinic to be treated by a doctor being paid a defined government salary.
