Please fix this entry to note that this is a combined HHW and unwanted Medication collection. The HHW book referenced specifically says no meds, but this date is specifically for Meds, so they are OK.
From the CVH release:
Items that will be collected are expired or unwanted prescription medicine, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and nutritional supplements, veterinary medications and household hazardous waste. Acceptable household hazardous wastes include CFLs, pesticides, cleaners, gasoline, and oil-based paint. The following materials will not be accepted at the collection: latex paint, tires, radioactive waste, household garbage, smoke detectors, ammunitions and explosives.
Medications must be in their original containers. Using a marker, cross out the patient’s name on prescription drug labels, but leave the name of the medication visible. Do not bring sharps or medical waste. Outdated and unused medications pose a danger in the home, and when improperly discarded, contaminate our environment with a dangerous blend of chemicals.
This event is organized by the CT Valley Hospital and The Metropolitan District. Funding of the collection is partial settlement of a Consent Order issued against CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services by the CT DEP. For more information, including a complete list of eligible towns and acceptable items please go to www.themdc.com call the HazWaste Hotline at (860) 278-3809.
