Big Game at Wesleyan Today
The Wesleyan men's lacrosse team, fresh off an emotional win over Eastern Connecticut University (Hartford Courant story), will play Middlebury College in the quarter finals of the NCAA Division III playoffs today. Middlebury is a perennial lacrosse powerhouse, this is their 12th consecutive appearance in the NCAA playoffs. The Panthers will be hunting for revenge against the Cardinals, having lost their only two games of the season to Wesleyan.
The game looks to be a classic matchup of the league's best defense against one of the league's best offenses. Wesleyan allowed opponents to score just 6.5 goals per game, far and away the best in the NESCAC. In contrast, the Middlebury offense was second best in NESCAC, scoring an average of 13.5 goals per game.
The game is at 4:00 PM, on the Wesleyan lacrosse field in the Center for the Arts on Wyllys Avenue.
