Anna at Mardi Gras

(Anna in traditional Cajun Mardi Gras costume, on fiddle)

There's a distinctly Louisianan bent to the posts today, but as my friend D.L. Menard always says, "No matter where you at; there you are."

Anna Gevalt-Roberts, who spent some time living among us Middletowners as a Wesleyan student, is now following her musical passions. While at Wes, she played in several old-time string bands, immersed herself in Kentucky banjo, and helped organize square and contra dances for Wesleyan and the community.

She just sent a picture of herself on the music wagon at the old-fashioned country Mardi Gras in Eunice Lousiana. With her on the wagon are Chas Justus of the Red Stick Ramblers, Wilson Savoy (partially obscured with accordion in hand) of the Pine Leaf Boys, and Anna Laura Edmiston and Phillipe Billeaudeux of Feufollet. Pretty heady company for her first time at Cajun Mardi Gras.
