Transgender 101 to be presented at Russell Library June 6th

Transgender 101 will be presented at Russell Library June 6th.
As part of the Pride Month celebration, Russell Library will present "Transgender 101" with Jill Celentano on Thursday, June 6th beginning at 6:30pm.

Jill is a transgender woman who transitioned two years ago. She works with a LGBTQ afterschool program at a high school in New Haven, and is in the process of organizing support groups for transgender kids and adults.

This presentation is a chance to learn, in a safe and comfortable place, what it means to be transgender.

Jill will discuss:

  • The coming out process
  • The transition process (G-rated)
  • The acceptance process
  • Terms and definitions
  • Right and wrong questions to ask other transgender people.

There will be a power point presentation to go along with the talk, with about 3 short videos. The duration is approximately one hour, and then she will address questions from the audience.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Russell Library.
