(CNI) is a new non-profit, created by a recreational therapist & disability advocate who specializes in working with people with intellectual disabilities. It was founded from a desire to “think outside the box” when it comes to supporting, working with and caring for people with disabilities.
CNI understands that one size does not fit all. All programs and services created by CNI will be tailored to each individual client. Community Navigators works hand-in-hand with individuals to help develop:
- Creative work opportunities
- Creative housing
- Creative life solutions
- Community inclusion
Larissa Gionfriddo, founder and CEO of CNI, has a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy from Southern Connecticut State University and has over 15 years of experience helping individuals and families with disabilities. She has experience guiding families of people with disabilities to the necessary resources, and has helped create inclusive settings within schools and camps, developed
Circles of Friends within different local school systems, and created family support groups.
“Community Navigators Inc. is the embodiment of what many people I worked with spent years dreaming about: A community-based service without bricks and mortar that truly supports people with disabilities as full members of their communities,” said Gionfriddo.
Because there is no physical location for CNI, the money that would have gone toward office rent, supplies, and equipment instead goes directly to the clients. CNI is having its first fundraiser on Nov. 12 at Billy Tees in Cromwell (RSVP HERE). This happy hour event offers several raffle prizes, drink specials & pizza. Suggested $20.00 donation. For additional event info check out CNI’s Facebook page. Please come show your support or make a donation

What does the ceo of this non profit make annually before a public call out for donations is asked?
ReplyDeletePresently the young CEO of Community Navigators is donating her time without compensation. The money raised through this appeal will provide the minimal working capital that is required by the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services.
