Fill-A-Bus Thanksgiving Food Drive Nov. 7 for Middletown Community Thanksgiving Project
The Middlesex United Way Young Leaders Society is hosting a Thanksgiving Fill-a-Bus Food Drive Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at both Stop & Shop and Price Chopper in Middletown to benefit the Middletown Community Thanksgiving Project.
The Middletown Community Thanksgiving Project was established to ensure that all Middletown families who couldn’t afford to purchase a Thanksgiving meal could still enjoy a holiday feast. The Middletown Community Thanksgiving Project will assemble baskets of food for 1,000 Middletown families this Thanksgiving.
A list of items needed will be available at the store during the collection times. Suggested items include fresh onions, 14 oz. bags of stuffing, 40 oz. cans of sweet potatoes, 10.5 oz. cans of gravy, 15.2 oz cans of corn and 14.5 of cans of green beans.
This project is supported by many generous local businesses, nonprofit organizations, faith communities, civic groups, and individuals.
Monetary donations are being accepted to purchase necessary food and non-food items essential to this effort. If you wish to contribute, checks can be made out to “Rotary-MCTP” and sent to MCTP, c/o Fellowship Church, 1002 Saybrook Rd., Middletown, CT 06457. The Liberty Bank Foundation will provide 25 cents for every dollar donated. For more information about contributing a donation, please contact Lara SantaMaria at Fellowship Church at 860-346-1181 or MCTP2013@yahoo.com.
