Costumes Encouraged at Annual MxCC Scholarship Race

Runners and walkers are encouraged to put on costumes and join the MxCC Foundation Scholarship Road Race taking place this Halloween, Saturday, October 31, on the Middlesex Community College campus.   All races for this fundraising event – which will benefit the MxCC Veterans OASIS Center as well as student scholarships – begin at 10 a.m. in the lower parking lot, and all courses travel through wooded areas, farmland, and along local reservoirs. Registration forms can be submitted anytime online, by mail or in person on race day (beginning at 8:30 a.m.).  Entry fees range from $15 to $30 depending on the race with discounts for MxCC students and faculty.   Free tee shirts will be given to the first 200 registrants and costume and race prizes will be will be awarded. For online registration, detailed course maps, volunteer information, and other details, visit www.mxcc.edu/roadrace.

“We are taking advantage of the race date this year to invite any interested runners and walkers to come in costume,” said Jay Keiser, chairperson of the MxCC Scholarship Race Committee.  “This will add a new level of fun to this popular race which includes varied terrain, beautiful scenery, and a fast downhill run that turns into a fairly level run to the finish line at the College.  We hope lots of families, friends and supporters take part in this fall tradition that supports a great cause.”

The race is timed by Sneero and all runners will have bibs with timing chips. There will be awards for the top runners overall (male and female), MxCC faculty and staff winners, and for the top three men and women in the different age divisions of the 5k and 10k.
