ARTFARM's Midsummer combines circus and Shakespeare

ARTFARM’s circus-inspired production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream has been wowing audiences for the first half of its run with confused lovers flying through the air, clowns, fairy acrobats and aerialists, stage magic of all kinds and first-rate comic Shakespeare performances. This weekend the audience will have a chance to “talk back” to the cast and director with more than just their laughter and applause.
Following the performance on Saturday, July 25, Middlesex Community College President Dr. Anna Wasescha will moderate a discussion between the audience, director Dic Wheeler, ARTFARM Artistic Director Marcella Trowbridge and Midsummer cast members. Audience members will get a chance to comment on the production, ask questions about the process of creating a show that is both circus and theater, and dialog with the production team about the human themes raised by the Shakespeare comedy.
The talkback will be held immediately following the performance. The play starts at 7 pm that night, and will be preceded starting at 6 pm by live music by Award-Winning Jazz pianist Noah Baerman and friends.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed Wednesday through Sunday, July 22 – 26 at 7 pm, with live music preceding each performance at 6 pm nightly. Audience members are encouraged to bring a picnic and beverages, a lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy live music in the lovely grove overlooking the Connecticut River Valley before the play begins.
