The
Middlesex Foundation Board of Directors elected new members and officers for
the 2014-2015 year during its Annual Meeting held on October 28, at Middlesex
Community College’s Center for New Media.
Newly
elected officers include Mary Anne Cox as chairman, H Brian Dumeer as vice chairman,
Jay Keiser as treasurer, and Julé Crawford as secretary. Cox and Dumeer will be
exchanging their roles from the previous year, while Keiser and Crawford are
serving a second term in their officer roles.
“It's an
exciting time at Middlesex with new programs like the Health and Life Sciences
initiative and the Center for New Media offering new opportunities for students,”
said Cox. “Newly completed building projects have transformed the campus
environment and we have new Board members and corporators joining the
Foundation. My hope is that this renewed energy will help us raise the funds
needed for student scholarships as well as the latest instructional programs
and technology that will provide students with an exceptional educational
experience, academic success, and expanded career and transfer opportunities.”
Cox worked
as assistant chancellor of the Connecticut Community College System for more
than 24 years, working in communications to increase support for the mission of
community colleges among the public, community, business and government
leaders. She also is involved with the Connecticut Public Access Network
(CPAN), and the Florence Griswold Museum. Dumeer is a partner with Carlson
& Dumeer, LLC, in Middletown. He is actively involved with the Middlesex
United Way, The Young Leaders Society, and the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce.
Keiser is a retired real estate broker. He has served on the Middletown
Board of Education, where he was chair of the budget committee, and as
president of school Parent/Teacher Associations. Crawford practices family law
in Middletown, and is a graduate of MxCC and the University of Connecticut
School of Law.
Three
members were also elected to the Foundation Board of Directors, serving terms
until 2017: Robert Olson, DVM, owner of Pieper-Olson Veterinary Hospital and
Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center; Rick Morin, CPA at Guilmartin, DiPiro & Sokolowski;
and James Probolus, an independent management consulting professional.
Elected
as a new Faculty Representative to the Board is Rebecca Loew, MxCC assistant professor
of behavioral sciences, who will join Judith Felton, faculty representative and
professor of human sciences and psychology. Student Representative Tyquan Crump
remains on the Board as well.
