Middletown GOP Delegation Splits Gov Vote

The city's delegation to the state Republican Party Convention, held at the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, split their vote for governor on Saturday. Five delegates cast votes for the convention's endorsed nominee, Greenwich businessman and former ambassador Tom Foley, while two voted for West Hartford businessman and tea party favorite Joe Visconti.  Visconti finished fifth (last) in the balloting, and did not qualify for a primary.

Foley will likely face two qualifying candidates, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton and State Senator John McKinney, in a primary on August 12th.
