Color of Justice Followup

Thanks to all who were able to join us Wed night for Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance's screening of the Color of Justice. With around 100 people in attendance we were obviously pleased but realize that many who may have been interested didn't have the opportunity to attend. The Middletown Press did a nice recap of the event which can be found HERE. One piece I pointed out that night and wish to do so again was the amount of students who joined us and how important that is. Too often communities come together to talk about kids without having kids be part of the conversation; this wasn't the case Wed night.

On the Juvenile Justice Alliance's website there is a lot of information to help catch people up including a link to the Color of Justice streaming page below. There you can watch the full 60 minute version (we saw a truncated 30 minute one Wed. night).

Beyond that, CTJJA also has a ton of informational materials that can continue one's learning around the issue. The link below provides a number of different types of resources including fact sheets, academic papers, and model policies that all help move us closer to better functioning system.

We also recommend that you the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange as another source of info.

If you have any questions about the event or ways to get involved don't hesitate to call us here at Middletown Youth Services at 860-854-6030.
