Tip-A-Firefighter & 2014 Firefighter Calendar to benefit MARC

Middletown’s buffest and bravest are featured in a 2014 Middletown Fire Department calendar to benefit programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Fourteen members of Middletown Firefighters Local 1073 volunteered for the calendar-modeling job, including two sets of brothers – Salvatore and Barrett Cretella and twins James and Patrick Ehman. The images depict the men with rescue equipment including hoses, axes, Hazmat and diving gear, and the Jaws of Life.

The 2014 calendar will be available for $20 at the 12th annual Tip-A-Firefighter event Oct. 11 at Tuscany Grill in Middletown from Noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8:30 p.m. Firefighters will autograph calendars and help serve meals and drinks.

All firefighter tips and calendar proceeds will benefit MARC: Community Resources. MARC serves more than 200 people with disabilities in residential, vocational, leisure and self-advocacy programs throughout Middlesex County. Tip-A-Firefighter is sponsored by A.R. Mazzotta Employment Specialists.

The Middletown Fire Department has partnered with MARC for more than a decade on fundraising events. “We’re grateful to the firefighters who enthusiastically volunteered for the calendar,” says MARC President/CEO Elizabeth Warner. “It’s a fun, unique project and we can’t wait to show it off at Tip-A-Firefighter.”

Calendars will also be sold beginning Saturday, Oct. 12. at the Middletown Fire Dept., 533 Main St., and on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at MARC’s office on 124 Washington St. A portion of calendar proceeds benefits the Middletown Firefighters Local 1073 Charitable Fund.
