The City is working to help its residents reduce their energy consumption, save money on their utility bills, and support the Middletown Tree Planting Fund by encouraging participation in the Home Energy Solutions program.
On Saturday, October 12, 10-11:30 am, the City and the Middletown Clean Energy Task Force will host a presentation at the Russell Library, 123 Broad Street. The presentation is free of charge and open to the public. Representatives from New England Conservation Services and Victory Energy Solutions will discuss the popular Home Energy Solutions℠ program, designed to help people save money on their utility bills.
Home Energy Solutions (HES) is a convenient home energy improvement service provided by CL&P, UI and the natural gas utilities as part of the Energize Connecticut initiative. The program is designed to help people save money on their monthly energy bills.
The launched a city-wide HES promotion earlier this year and will be continuing the promotion through the end of December. For every resident who signs up for a HES assessment before December 31, 2013, $25 will be donated to the City Tree Planting Fund by the HES vendors, New England Conservation Services and Victory Energy Solutions. The Urban Forestry Commission manages the city’s tree planting program.
“We are looking to energize Middletown residents into participating in energy-saving programs, now through December 31,” said Mayor Dan Drew. “By participating in the program, residents will see a reduced energy bill, experience increased comfort in their homes, and also contribute to Middletown’s environment.”
For those who sign up for Home Energy Solutions, CL&P-authorized energy specialists come to your home or apartment and install energy-efficient products and perform weatherization services. These services include locating and professionally sealing critical air leaks, replacing incandescent lights with energy-saving bulbs and insulating hot water pipes.
The cost for the Home Energy Solutions service is $75 for homes heating with electricity or natural gas, $99 for homes heated with fuel oil and propane, and is free for those who meet income eligibility guidelines.
