October 20, 2013. Xavier High School Track, 181 Randolph Road.
Anytime from 9:30am to 2:00pm.
The MAPS Wheel-a-thon/Walk-a-thon will be like a conventional Walk-a-Thon, but offers an interesting twist. It will be held at the Xavier High School 1/4 mile track behind the school and we encourage both walking and wheelchair bound people to cover a 1/4 mile or more, on the track, for the benefit of their MS members. There will be a wheelchair available if you would like to experience what being in a chair is like. You also have the opportunity to push one of our member/patients around.
MAPS is a non-profit agency devoted to assisting patients with MS with expenses not covered by insurance or Medicare. The MAPS board members are all unpaid volunteers and 100% of the money donated will go to the member/patients. Founded in 1973, MAPS provides money for items such as non-covered medication expense, wheelchair ramps, electric wheelchair batteries and automobile accessories, all of which make it possible for patients to continue in a more active lifestyle. If you would like to help out, look for the registration tent in back of Xavier High School. Sign up friend and relatives to sponsor a lap, or just take a slow stroll around a beautiful track on a Sunday. No donation is too small. Won't you help us brighten someone's day with fighting this debilitating and as yet incurable disease?
