Rockfall Foundation's County & Regional Environmental Grants Workshop

The Rockfall Foundation's biennial Major Grant Initiative begins with the 2013-2014 grant cycle.  The foundation will award one or two larger grants, up to a total of $25,000, in either single-year or multi-year disbursements. Eligible applicants include 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and schools.

Grants will be awarded for programs, projects, internships, or capacity building for innovative approaches to environmental education with ties to Middlesex County. This includes projects or programs based in Middlesex County as well as applicants based in Middlesex County.

Regional proposals that focus on the Connecticut River corridor or Long Island Sound will also be considered as long as there is a demonstrated impact on Middlesex County.

Environmental education is broadly defined, is not limited to school curricula, and can target any age from pre-school to college level.  Activities that engage young people, provide hands on experiences, or offer creative approaches to learning are encouraged.

Interested organizations are required to submit a pre-application Letter of Intent by October 1, 2013. Only those who submit a Letter of Intent will be eligible to submit a full application. The pre-application review process will identify those pre-proposals with the highest likelihood of success and the submission of a full application will be requested from those applicants.  Full applications will be due January 14, 2014 and grant awards will be announced in early Spring, 2014.

A grants information workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at Rockfall's offices, deKoven House Community Center, 27 Washington Street. Foundation staff and grants committee members will discuss the application process and answer questions. The workshop is for all who are interested as well as those planning to apply. No registration is required. Questions can be directed to Tony Marino, Manager, Operations and Grants Administration, at 860.347.0340 or tmarino@rockfallfoundation.org.
