The Buttonwood Tree (TBT) offers free Qigong and yoga classes starting at 7:30 am, followed by a workshop designed to help people understand their lives better and how to cope with issues. The "Aligned with Source" workshop also includes a guided meditation and happens weekly from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
This afternoon TBT hosts artists Dortha Willetts and Bob Farace who will display their photography and sculpture respectively from 2-5pm during Wesleyan's REMIX community project event happening in the North End Arts District.
Tonight it's a Double Bill show starting at 8 pm:
“Singer
songwriter Terry Kitchen from Boston, together with Mara Levine,
rendered a superb performance… Terry writes some brilliant lyrics and
melodies which reflect his inner feelings of love for his fellow human
beings. There is nothing phony about him and he expresses exactly what
he feels. His songs convey a feeling of inner peace to the listener.
Mara Levine’s soothing alto voice, reminiscent of Judy Collins, adds a
totally new dimension to the performance and elevates it a notch above
excellence. Her very stage presence brings a breath of fresh air to the
venue. Together they blend like honey and velvet.”-Sol Zeller, The
Borderline Folk Club

THE LEVINS ( pronounced The L’Vins ) Ira and Julia Levin combine harmony-driven acoustic folk rock with wistful overtones of the 1930s and the intention of putting a smile on your face. Original tunes, guitar, piano and voices provide a full sound with unexpected harmonies and unique arrangements. It’s Happy-Folk, Smile Pop….sounds likeThe Mamas and The Papas having coffee with Cole Porter. 2011 Winners of the Connecticut Folk Festival Songwriting Competition.
