Forest
City Wine & Spirits has arranged for 16 Connecticut-based distributors
to provide tastings of more than 70 wines and beer. All
wine and beer selections will be available to order at the event, with proceeds
donated to MARC: Community Resources.
Bon Appetit will provide a light fare,
including servers circulating the room with hot hors d’oeuvres. The event is sponsored by A.R.
Mazzotta Employment Specialists, Greenwald Industries and Liberty Bank. Parking
is free. I.D. is required. For event and parking information and to order tickets, visit www.marccommunityresources.org
or call 860-342-0700, ext. 210.
Guests
can enter a drawing for an iPad mini, a Nexus 7 tablet, and a case of the
event’s most popular wines. New this year is a small silent auction featuring
suites to a New Britain Rock Cats and a CT Whale game, “Best of Downtown
Middletown” packages, and lunch for two and the opportunity to attend a taping
of Better Connecticut with Channel
3’s Scot Haney.
“More
than 360 people attended our inaugural wine tasting last year, making this one
of Middletown’s largest social events,” said Liz Warner, President/CEO. “Guests
will enjoy a fun night out while sampling a great selection of wines – all at
an unbeatable price of only $25.”
All
proceeds benefit MARC’s Adult Skill Development & Leisure Program and the
Saturday Morning Fun & Friends program for children. These programs provide
community-based recreation opportunities for people with
disabilities. Activities contribute to an improved quality of life by promoting health and wellness, personal
growth, and safety.
“Many
people with disabilities lack leisure activities on the evenings and weekends,”
said Lisa Christensen, Director of Adult Recreation. “As a result, many still
experience instances of isolation and exclusion. We provide opportunities to
practice the skills that lead to inclusive, independent and fulfilling lives.”
