Three of Middlesex County’s Volunteer Organizations Meet for 5th Year

Altrusa International of Central CT, Civitan International and Soroptimist International met for their 5th joint dinner meeting last week. The three Clubs have 135 years of combined community service to Middlesex County. Soroptomist International was this years host to the annual dinner meeting. What are these clubs and what do they do for the community? Altrusa International of Central CT President Elsie Mathews spoke about Altrusa being dedicated to promoting literacy for ALL ages. Civitan President Pat Jackowski spoke about Civitan being dedicated to improving their communities through helping others with a special emphasis on those with developmental disabilities. Soroptimist President Gerry Bennett spoke about Soroptimist being dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. The guest speaker was Michelle Waldner the Program Director of New Horizons’ Women’s Shelter. The Clubs will continue to meet yearly and will continue to be dedicated to their many community projects
