Varissa Kohl wins pageant title

Middletown resident Varissa Kohl and her family were spotted frolicking at Spear park on Main Street at the corner of William Street. Varissa was reveling in her recent win of the 2012 National American Miss Juinor Pre Teen Miss Connecticut. Winning the title gave her automatic entry to the national competition which is held every year in Anaheim California. For the Kohl's, that's exciting, but expensive. They'd like to go together as a family and make a fun trip out of it. So to help make that happen, they are having a fundraiser on September 23rd from 1pm to 6pm at the Westfield Fire Department. There will be food there from many different restaurants.

Last fall, the Middletown Press wrote a profile of Varissa in which her mom talks about the difference between the glitz pageants and the natural pageants, and her preference for the latter. It can be read here.

Here is a mini-interview that I did on the spot. The Spear Park fountain is the roaring background noise.
