Former MxCC Student and Accidental Art Detective Comes to MxCC to Discuss "New Secrets in Durer's Art"

The Fine Arts Department at MxCC is welcoming back one of its students who also is an art collector and “accidental art detective,” Elizabeth Maxwell-Garner, to deliver a free lecture on Tuesday, March 13 at 5:30 p.m. in Chapman Hall, Room 808 C&D (with full handicap accessibility).  She will discuss her research and personal interpretation of the hidden Jewish symbols and codes in the engravings and woodcuts of the Christian Renaissance master Albrecht Durer that have been overlooked for centuries.  Maxwell-Garner, who is preparing to publish a book titled “Crimes in the Art; The Secret Cipher of Albrecht Dürer,” owns 43 works by the artist in her MAGJEKL Collection, which is being exhibited at museums throughout the country in 2012.  She will be available for questions following the discussion.  Free parking is available adjacent to Chapman Hall.
