In a phone interview, the Chair of the Board of Education, Gene Nocera, told The Eye that the Board was committed to working with the City to resolve some of the issues raised by the recent audit of the city's finances. That audit found several issues of concern with the finances of the Schools.
Nocera said the first step was to get all of the parties together, and he said a meeting between himself, the Superintendent's Office, and the Mayor was being scheduled now. "We want to be certain the city and the Board of Education agree on the accounting principles."
Nocera said some of the issues in the audit are from last year. He spoke about the sharing of information among the city, the central administration, and the Board of Education, "If there was a problem with communication, it will be corrected."
Don't stop with just correcting communication issues in regards to money- correct ALL the communications issues- ask why DEAL was closed-
ReplyDeleteI just read an article in the Hartford Courant that Mayor Drew has proposed property tax relief for senior citizens. This is a great idea for seniors who are on a fixed income. Drew proposed this during his campaign last year and he is following through on his campaign promises unlike other politicians who just like to talk. Keep up the good work Mayor Drew!
ReplyDeletegene get to the bottom of this and dont give up until you get the truth!! you have a strong BOE that will support you. We need to clean house at central office. too much is going on in the city that is not good and these people at central office are the cause of it. i cant believe what they are getting away with. something needs to happen and it needs to happen soon. i think chris bourne was on to something that's why they got rid of her. i feel sick when i think about how much damage these people have done. get them out of here and do it soon!!!
ReplyDeletea strong boe? really? the chairman deemed the proposed budget "reasonable". do you wish to retract your statement gene?
ReplyDeletethe new boe has been thus far disappointing at best. now that you all see we are watching, perhaps you all now know we all are holding you all accountable.
govern wisely please.
