Robbery Suspect Apprehended

From the Middletown Police Department



On November 26, 2011, with help from the public, the Middletown Police Department’s Major Investigations Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Robert Fontaine for the robbery at Walgreens located at 633 Washington Street. 

The suspect Robert Fontaine age 48 of 400 Washington Street is being accused of walking into Walgreens on 11-25-11, assaulting the cashier and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.  Fontaine who was being held at State Police Troop F for DUI charges was picked up by Middletown Police Officers, transported to Middletown and charged with Robbery in the Third Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Larceny in the Sixth Degree and Breach of Peace in the Second Degree.  Fontaine is being held on a $150,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court on 11-28-11.

Fontaine, a convicted violent felon was apprehended less than 24 hrs with the help of the public.  The Middletown Police Department wishes to thank the public for their assistance in identifying the suspect.
