From Kim O'Rourke, City Recycling Coordinator
-------------
Public Works crews are working their way through town collecting tree debris from Storm Alfred. Any tree limbs and debris should be stacked neatly at the curb and cut to five foot lengths. Please be sure not to stack piles too high and keep them out of the roadways and sidewalks.
Once the crews have picked up the storm debris, and weather permitting, the City will follow with leaf collection throughout the City to clean up remaining piles of leaves. At this time, we cannot say when this collection will begin.
Residents wanting to dispose of leaves in a more expedient manner can bring leaves directly to the Recycling Center on the corner of Johnson and North Main Street. It is open Monday – Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and every Saturday in November 7:00 am – 12 noon. Starting in December, the Recycling Center is only open the first and third Saturday of the month. A resident’s pass to use the recycling center can be obtained at the Dept. of Public Works in City Hall upon presentation of vehicle registration.
For more information contact the Public Works Department at 860-344-3407.
