Middletown Rows the Charles

For a small town, Middletown is well represented at this weekend's Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. The highlight of the fall rowing season, this two-day regatta has nearly 9,000 rowers participating from all over the world. The course follows the Charles River for 3.2 miles, navigating under 6 bridges and around a few significant bends.

Yesterday, Wesleyan had a boat in the Collegiate Men's Four (one proud parent submitted the above photo), which placed 5th in a field of 41 crews. In the Directors Challenge Mixed Doubles, Julie Flagg and Renny Schoonmaker competed in their double scull.

Local rowers are featured in three of today's races:

•Middletown High rows in the Youth Men's Eight, 1:10 pm
•Wesleyan in the Collegiate Men's Eight, 3:28 pm
•Wesleyan in the Collegiate Women's Eight, 3:46 pm

Here's the lineup in the Middletown High Men's Eight:

Seat 1: S. CLARK
Seat 2: E. DOUGHERTY
Seat 3: K. GOODHUE
Seat 4: J. WINTERS
Seat 5: S. ARIAS
Seat 6: D. MORE
Seat 7: K. BRETON
Seat 8: T. SHEIL
Cox: J. CURNEAL
