Middletown — City residents with property damage from Hurricane Irene may be eligible to receive assistance from the federal government. Assistance may include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low interest loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help recover from the effects of the disaster.

City officials announced today that homeowners and renters impacted by the storm in Middletown can apply for assistance from the FEMA Individual and Households Program. Although businesses are not eligible for this grant, it is recommended that they register through FEMA for referral to the Small Business Administration to receive help through the Disaster Loan Program.
