Shakespeare's Argument
July 23rd Performance
A perfect mid-summer night, a light breeze, a soft blue sky, gently slanting sun, rustling leaves. The world surrounding a spare, imaginative stage defined by pole-banners fluttering in the breeze. The audience relaxed and open, all systems go.
Boldly simple costumes of blue, green, ruby, and gold. Cool and nimble gestures beckoning us into the mood. The Art-Farm orchestral ensemble sounding subtle magic on flute, guitar, and synthesizer--by turns jolly, raucous, questioning, suggestive, mysterious. Drawing us in.
Trowbridge and Company weave their spell, asking
Is it the words?
Is it the actors?
Is it the music?
Is it The Master?
We wonder: Is it the minimalist set? Is it the night? Is it the place? Is it the time?
It is all of the above.
Radically simple, spun with imagination and wit, the magic of Shakespeare's Argument: You've got to see it!
